2007 is here!!!

Well its finally 2007, I had a great christmas with my family, we ate, drank, laughed, played games, and watched movies, it was great. I spent new year being very quiet and still in fact i was meditating. It was so nice. Well what now? Well my street track, Bumper and my sweet Honey are doing great, here in London, Miami and New York currently to be released in jamaica. General Lee produced the record and he's in New york currently. General Lee has helped me so much with all my promotion on my track including Sexy baal-ed. Its great working with him.

I have been accepted by a modeling agency so I will fill in more about that when jobs come up.
To be honest i am taking thing kinna easy at he moment and taking my time to ease into this year. It wount be long before things start getting frantic.

General lee and i are looking to go to Jamaica at the end of january to do a hard core re-mix of Sexy baal-ed. Cant wait.

Back from Jamaica

Well I have been back a week nowand still i am having to get use to the cold. It has taken me a while to get back in the swing of things, just getting back up to speed has been hard. But exciting new, I have just recorded a Dj and r&b self penned creation over the Sly and Robbie 'Taxi'riddim, which was producd by General Lee. Both versions sound HEAVY. I fist started to get the inspiration for the DJ version on the plane coming back from Jamica and I could'nt wait to get home and write the rest of it. I came back last Tuesday and on the Friday I had recorded it.......Thats me I dont waist time. Both versions are going to be released in New York, England, and Jamaica, for the new year. Watch these riddims ripp up the charts... remember you heard this here first.

Photo Shoot....

Hi All.... Yesterday I had my photo shoot that I have been preparing for, for the past few days!!! It went really well. I got the items I chose from the designers earlier this week and used them for the pictures. I had 5 pieces from Simms and a few from Lubita (the two designers I had meeting with this week). The photo shoot started at 6:30am (I know... EARLY!!!). It was in a place called Port Royal, we went to some ruins there and that’s where we did the photo shoot. A guy called Roy Sweetland was the photographer; he did a really great job!

After the photo shoot... I spent the rest of the day relaxing!

Today me and my agent Monifa went and picked up the pictures... They are looking great. We picked some out, they are being sent to some key people... Hopefully the new pictures will bring some interest.

Other than that i met with a friend today from Montego Bay and had lunch and spent time catching up. So I guess I have had a fairly relaxing day.

Tomorrow's rescheduled gig in Ocho Rios has been cancelled again... Waiting to hear the new date!!!

Zipp FM Radio interview...

Today was another good day!!! I had a live phone in radio interview with Zipp FM... We talked about the shows I have been doing since being out here in Jamaica and I sang Sexy Baal-ed live over the phone for them...

Also today I have been topping up on my tan, have been on the beach most of the day relaxing enjoying the sun and eating fried fish and festival (hahaha I know you guys are jealous). I met with one of the best designers out here... Her name is Simms, and she had the most amazing designs, her collection was great. She will be giving me 5 pieces for my photo shoot tomorrow. So all in all... I am looking tanned up, and feeling refreshed, and will be looking good for my photo shoot tomorrow.

I've got to go now... on my way to perform at Christopher’s @ Club Quad... should be a great show, especially with the live band.

CBM Morning TV....

Hi All.... Hope you guys had a good weekend!!! Apart from meeting with a designer called Lubita from Slovakia, who showed me her collection, she had some really great designs and she will be giving some of her designs for my photo shoot. Mine was very relaxing, it rained all weekend here in Jamaica and I stayed in the apartment and watched DVD after DVD after DVD (it was great)!!!

After such a relaxing weekend, I started Monday morning earlier than ever. I woke up at 4:30am (I know, crazy), as I did the morning show on CBM TV... I performed a track and then was interviewed. It was a really good interview; we talked about everything... the musical journey to where I am today, me practicing the Alexander Technique to modelling. Straight after the CBM TV morning show I headed down to the gym for my usual morning work out... when i got there everyone recognised me from the morning show (made me feel warm inside, and maybe a little bit like a star :) What a great feeing)

This afternoon I have been rehearsing as a show has come up at the last minute for tomorrow at Club Quad (the biggest club in Jamaica)... So I have been with the band most of the day rehearsing for that. I am really looking forward to it; it will be great performing there.

So once again I have been busy busy busy!!! Just the way I like it :)

Flooding in Ocho Rios....

Yesterday's TV performance with Hype TV was amazing. The interview was great; we talked about my past in my music career, the modelling I have done and about the Alexander Technique. After the interview the played the Sexy baal-ed video then I went on to performing two tracks... "Chyna Whyne" and "Freedom of the Soul". To say the least the whole thing was amazing!!!! Everyone is showing me so much love out here it is unreal.

Today's show in Ocho Rios as been cancelled.... It has been raining here all week, and Ocho Rios is completed flooded, and is it was an out door event so it just can't happen. They promoters have rescheduled it to next Friday. So I guess its not all bad, means a get a night off :)

Oh… another bit of good news.... last week we had 500 copies of Sexy Baal-ed CDs pressed, and they are ALL sold out!!!! So we plan to get another 500 copies pressed and ready for distribution.... Amazing things are happening... and I am so excited.

Will get back to you all over the weekend.

Hype TV!!!!!!!!!!!

Today i am real excited. I started my day with a Pilate’s class (in the early hours of the morning, being the early bird that I am).

I am on my way shortly to do my first live TV appearance of this trip. Its at Hype TV, on a show called "Up & Live". The show starts at 7:30pm (i am buzzing with excitement as you can imagine). Throughout the day i did rehearsals with the singers for tonight’s show. So I will be performing "Freedom of the Soul" and then they will do a 30 minute live interview with me straight after the performance... I'm going to be talking about my project... How I got to where I am with this whole thing... talking about my journey to Jamaica, the video and talking about the "Alexander Technique".

Also I have been rehearsing with the live band for Friday's performance in Ocho Rios... And the band is sounding amazing!!!! I am really looking forward to the performance :)

I will get back to you all tomorrow, and let you know how the TV performance went.

Rolling with the punches...

Hey everyone... Today, again I started my day at 6am at the gym in an aerobics class. Man.... Jamaican aerobics is so different to back in the UK, its much harder!!! But i guess that’s why everyone looks so great out here.

This afternoon we had a meeting with a promoter who plans to book me for a show out here in December; it is supposed to be a massive event with some massive names on the bill... I really want to do it; it'll be great to be confirmed for it and to be performing along side some great artistes. Unfortunately though things weren't quite all wrapped up in today's meeting, so we have decided to meet again on Friday... Fingers crossed all goes well.

So after the meeting I was feeling a little down in dumps... i think i just wanted it to be wrapped up and confirmed, and to know that I am coming back in a few weeks for this show. So feeling a little sad i went back to the apartment and got into bed and chilled for a few hours...

Also today I have started rehearsals with my band for my show on Friday... as I got to rehearsals one of the band members handed a copy of the Star Newspaper to me... And in there was a big picture of me!!! What an amazing feeling, so from feeling a little low... I was lifted again. And more so, i was reassured again that I am making some real progress with this project. It was just what I needed to lift my spirits ;)

So I am gonna keep soldiering on with this, roll with punches and make big things happen for me!!!

Hot 102.2 FM interview

I started my day this morning at a 6am aerobics class... It got me ready and gave me that feel good factor for the rest of the day.

Today I had the most excellent radio interview with Hot 102.2 FM's Richie B at 4pm prime time (Jamaica's equivalent to the UK's drive time shows). The interview was amazing... quite lengthy and I felt so much love from it towards the whole project. Throughout the interview Richie B played three of my tracks... "Chyne Whyne", "Stay Low" and "Sexy Baal-ed". All in all... the interview lasted about 20 - 25 mins... It was such a good feeling to see the support and love I am being shown out here once again.

It was the first time it rained all day today, but hey.... I can't complain!!! Its been so hot out here! Besides it gave me the time to go and join the gym... So I ended my day as I started it... At the gym :) Twice in one day... now that ain't bad!!!

Relaxing Sunday

Its Sunday today and has been a relaxing day...

This morning I started my day with my daily excerises in the park, which is my best way of starting the day. This afternoon we went down to the beach... spent a good part of this afternoon enjoying the sunshine, kickin back and relaxing. Also we went down to Lineque this is where I shot the video for "Sexy Baal-ed", it was a real nice feeling to go down there and remenise on a few months ago when I was out here recording the video... and thinking about how positively this whole project has moved forward since then!!!

After this we sat down and ran through the plans and schedule for the coming week... what shows are planned, meetings and other key tasks we will be doing regarding the project.

And... now I am winding down, getting ready for Monday morning.

What an amazing show...

Well it's the day after my first show out here.... And it was absolutely amazing!!!

I was slightly nervous before going on stage, as I only got the chance to do one rehearsal with the full band before the show... Also i wasn't too sure on how the Jamaican crowd would accept my show (especially as I was wearing my PVC Cat suit... so many people complimented me on it... they said i looked like Grace Jones, ha ha ha!!!) but the most beautiful thing was that they really really loved it and showed so much appreciation for my performance (what an amazing feeing, as you can imagine).

CNTV (a television network out here), filmed it and I did an interview with them straight after coming off stage... They will be airing the whole thing some time with in the next week on one of their music shows.

So all in all, it was a pretty amazing night... And i am feeling so good about the whole thing.

Today I have spent the day chillin out, relaxing in the park, reading and enjoying the sunshine... And tonight I am out an venue after being invited last night by one of the guys that run it.

Back sunny Jamaica

Back in Kingston Jamaica, on a promotional trip... Promoting the single Sexy Baal-ed. Its the so crazy hot out here... coming from grey London to sunny Jamaica what a change in climate!!!

Since arriving here on Monday I have met with my agent, meeting the staff in the office and really just catching up on what this trip will entail, and above all getting over this jet lag... now feeing refreshed and ready get out there!!!

Today is the start of barber campaign... I am hitting all the barbers out here with signed posters and other promo material to help promote Sexy Baal-ed. Also today I start rehersals with my band, I have my first show of this trip tomorrow at a venue called Weekendz here in Kingston... really excited about it. Busy Busy Busy!

Oh and always finding some time to catch the sun.

feeling great

I have been remarkably full of energy today considering I went to bed at around 4.00am. I did a show last night at Rhythm Factory on Whitechapel Road .The event was called ‘Underground VII. It was great, the audience loved my performance and I loved performing. General lee came with me. A lady came all the way from Leister to see me, I was touched and honoured.

I got up this morning and went to the gym and did my usual aerobics class, then spent hours on the computer and phone sorting out all my last bitz and piece before I leave for Jamaica. I have recently started taking this health drink called Noni Juice, and I cant believe how it has made me feel. With all the heavy promotion that I have been doing I spend many evenings in the clubs sometimes not going on stage until 1.oo or even 2.ooam, and getting home in the early hours of the morning. When I get in I drink some Noni Juice and when I wake up I feel so rested and I don’t have that tired dragged down feeling, and I am able to get through my day well. I am amazed and it tastes ‘NICE’.

I gave two people Alexander lessons today, that was nice, a lady that has been coming to me with chronic shoulder pain is finally getting some relief and she is feeling better. I love the rewards that being an Alexander teacher brings. People getting Well, what more could I want.

I am going to have another early night tonight as I have BNI in the monring at 7.00am. I also have a live interview on Ben TV tomorrow at 11.00am and the issue of the South London press will be out with me on the front cover and a two page spread. Cant wait.

Choice Fm interview

I felt great knowing that today was the day to be interviewed by Angela la Mar at Choice Fm. I am so pleased that things seen to be moving along. I arrived at the station at 10.40 only to meet Cat who interviews the celebrities on MTV base. We got talking and I gave him a copy of my single, DVD (my journey to Jamaica) and my video. I asked him if he liked what he saw to get back to me. I also told him that MTV Base have picked up my video and would be playing it. He took some time to read the back of my DVD and nodded. He seemed impressed.

I was not long after that escorted upstairs to the studio where I was interviewed by Angela. She played ‘Stay Lo’ from the album and talked to me about my experience in going to Jamaica to find Elephant Man. At the end of the interview she played ‘Sexy Baal-ed’and it sounded great over the air waves.

On my way out of the studio I bumped into Richard Blackwell and I also gave him a copy of my DVD, video and single and asked him to take a look and get back to me if he saw what he liked.

On my way home I was talking to General Lee who had been helping me to try and find the backing rack to the Diana Carroll song that I co-wrote called ‘Don’t be a stranger’. I could not find it in any shops in the west end, so decided to find it when I got home, it had to be somewhere. I didn’t have to look too hard before I found the original recording with me singing it. I played it to General lee down the phone and he was blown away. I was too because I had not heard this tune in a long while and I had forgotten how great a classic it is.

I love having a free evening to relax and I love it….

Catching up

It has been very difficult to stay on top of things with not having had a personal assistant in place. However I now have a PA and her name is Chloe. She started this week and so far so good. She will be coming in 3 days a week for now; already the extra help is good. Tomorrow morning I will be going to a BNI breakfast business meeting which takes place every Friday at 7.00am. This is where I get a lot referrals as a voice coaching and the Alexander Technique. I enjoy BNI as I get to meet and do business with people that I would not ordinarily meet and I like that versatility

Been a while

Its been a while since I have done my blog. So many great things have been taking place. I have been promoting my single Sexy Baal-ed in many clubs and events and the reaction has been awesome!!!

I am going back to Jamaica on the 12th November to do more promotion. i will be posting a list of all my up and coming dates.

Gigging

The last few days have been really great in terms of my promotions. The gig in the restaurant was fantastic, so mellow and nice, and rewarding to do an acoustic set. Mind you, by the second half of the evening Peter and I had the whole restaurant up dancing and singing along to us - it was fantastic.

On Saturday morning I was performing at an African Cultural day at Centre Point in Tottenham Court Rd and I was asked to sing and tell my audience about myself. So I told my story of where I am coming from, where I am now and where I am going, and having grown up in the church singing Amazing Grace and this song being so poignant for Black history, I performed an accapella version which went down a treat. I followed that with another accapella song - my very own ‘Freedom of the Soul’, then told my story of my journey to Jamaica. Then the video was played and I performed Sexy Baal-ed………. Well the roof tore off. My cd’s and DVD’s were snapped up afterwards and the people absolutely had a ball. People told me that I had touched their hearts and that my story is an inspiration to them…….. I was well pleased!!!

Making the Video

Hello again,

So much has happened since I last posted a comment here.Everything has been running according to plan thanks to Mike and Nikita who have been out here managing this whole project on my behalf. We had planned to shoot the video on Friday morning and everything was in place by Thursday evening so I went to bed really excited about the next day.

At about 5am on Friday morning, we got a text from Elephant man to say that he had to fly out to the Bahamas straight away and could not make the video shoot. Understandably I was disappointed but the Project managers and fantastic film crew assured me that the show would definately still go on! I am so glad we still went ahead and shot the video as we had a brilliant time, are still on schedule and the video is amazing as you will soon see! Lots of the Jamaican Press were here to see the making of the video so look out for me in the news :-)

I am having a wonderful time but cant wait to see you all again. Got to run now but will write soon

Meeting up with Elephant Man

Hello again, I am having another fantastic day here in Jamaica. Today I’m at Fort Clarence beach near Hayleshire Beach topping up my tan so I can look extra hot in my bikini scene on Friday

This morning we did some filming for the making of the video. The crew caught me on camera on my morning run and during my regular meditation and yoga sessions. I’ve been adding a lap each today so today I ran round five times around Emancipation Park. I am so proud of myself!

This afternoon I met up with Troy, my contact with Ele. Elephant Man is on his way from Negril right now to go over the story board with Mike and Nikita. Tonight we are going clubbing tonight in Kingston. The tune ‘sexy baal ed’ is really blowing up here in Jamaica, the DJ played here on the beach has already played it four times!

Maiden Key Beach

Hi Everyone,

Today I took a boat from Port Royal to Maiden Key Beach which is an unspoilt island which beautiful clear blue water and virgin sand that seems to be out in the middle of nowhere. This is the island where we will be shooting the james bond scene that Halle Berry is famous. I can’t wait! Today there is a private beach party going on with unlimited food and drink and some dj’s playing music in the background. It feels like heaven so I can’t wait to come back on Friday to shoot the scene with Ele!

Arrived Safely in Jamaica

Hello Everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know I have arrived safely and am here in Sunny J A having the greatest time! This morning I went for my usual run in Emancipation Park and then spent the rest of the morning trying on outfits for the "Sexy Baal Ed" video shoot.

This afternoon I have been looking at the two locations for the club scenes. Everyone wants to be involved so they have been gathering at Morgans Harbour and Pirates Hideaway in Kingston to be selected for the video with me and Elephant Man. These are where we are filming the James Bond scenes, make sure to keep checking back for more updates on that.

Right now am sitting on the beach eating fried fish and bammi while writing to you.

This is the life!
